Sony Xperia P Gets Covered in 24 Carat Gold
Sony has been producing limited edition Xperia P handsets cased in solid gold, even though they are going through a recession period.
The move may look a bit strange considering the current economic climate, but it doesn’t look like Sony will be selling them. Rather, it’s presenting them up for a giveaway through its Facebook page, which is quite a bit more sensible. Their main idea is to bring forward Xperia P’s sleep unibody design and aluminium back cover, according to the Sony Mobile blog.
Not more than 15 have been manufactured. If you fantasy owning a smartphone that Auric Goldfinger would be proud of, keep an eye on Sony’s global Facebook page next week.
The Xperia P is quite a decent mid ranged smartphone, occupying a 4 inch screen, with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels giving it a pixel-per-inch count of 275ppi. On the back sports an 8 Megapixel camera that has the ability to capture magnificent images and videos, supported through a 1GHz processor, which is not that high compared to standards these days.
The translucent bar at the bottom looks intact in the gold-plated version, so it should still light up to indicate incoming calls.
Let’s hope that Sony fixed all the issues surrounding build quality. The phone would not be of much use, if you can’t get the SIM card in.
