Smartphone Showdown – the iPhone 5 Vs the Nokia Lumia 920

In this world of smartphones where we are surrounded by Apples and Androids, Symbian and Windows Phones we have been blessed upon by two awesome phones currently available in the market. Made by the two biggest cell phone companies in the world, the iPhone 5 by Apple Inc. and the Nokia Lumia 920, the smartphone war just got bigger, better and even more smarter.
iPhone 5 Vs Nokia Lumia 920
The two phones i.e. the Nokia Lumia 920 Windows phone and the Apple iPhone 5 are going to be pitched against each other on some features as follows:

• Design and Looks

The iPhone 5 is almost the same when it comes to the external design. It has been developed and bettered from its predecessors so the design has not changed much. The only difference in the screen size which has been increased by half inch compared to its older version the iPhone 4S. It is 4.87 inches tall and 2.31 inches wide. It is very slim with a depth of 0.3 inches and is extremely lightweight at just 112 grams. It is available in only black and white colour.
The Lumia 920 on the other hand is 5 inches tall and 2.8 inches wide. Hence it has a bigger screen but is a bit heavier weighing 185 gms. It is pretty much like its predecessor the Lumia 800 in design, but just a bit better and bigger. It is available in range of bright colours like red and yellow apart from the usual white, black and grey. So it offers a better size and looks than the iPhone 5. Score Lumia.

• Hardware and Processor

The iPhone 5 has a 1.3 GHz dual core processor which handles its iOS 6.0 pretty well. It has 1 GB of RAM and comes in internal memory versions of 16, 32 and 64 GB versions. It has a multi-touch capacitive touchscreen which is as smooth as water and handles perfectly well. It is equipped with all the usual like GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and supports both 2G and 3G networks as well as is 4G ready. It contains an 8 MP camera with 1080p HD recording capacity. Capable with both GSM and CDMA networks this is an all-round phone.
The Lumia 920 has the Nokia Snapdragon S4 1.5 GHz dual core processor. It has 1 GB of RAM and 32 GB mass memory. It even provides 7 GB of online free memory in SkyDrive. It has a multi-touch capacitive touchscreen and is equipped with GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and supports 2G and 3G networks and is 4G ready. It has an 8.7 MP camera with the Nokia PureView Technology and the Carl Zeiss lens scores above the iPhone. It is similar to the iPhone in this case except for a faster processor. So both are almost equal matches here.

• Operating System

The iPhone runs on the iOS 6.0 which is created by Apple Inc. It is always in the developmental stage and the updates to it are immediately available for the users to upgrade. It supports all the documents and file formats to be used and has a good email client. There are lots of apps available at the Apple app store.
The Lumia runs on Windows 8 Mobile OS. Created by Microsoft this is a tried and tested good OS for any system. It supports almost all the apps and also all the file formats and documents. The Microsoft email client is among the best in the world. No doubt about that.

• Cost

The iPhone costs $199 for 16 GB, $299 for 32 GB and $399 for 64 GB on the Apple website making it a good bargain. The Lumia costs around $350 – $400, which makes it a bit costly but it is worth all the features it provides.
So while choosing among the two, do a thorough study and then pitch in for one. But if you need an opinion then it is advisable to go for the Nokia Lumia 920 as it has more features and better quality and also it is a value for money product. It can even be ranked as among the top smartphones in the market.

Which is your favorite choice between these two smartphones? Do share your opinion in the comment section, we’ll be glad to hear from you.
