Windows Phone 7.8 Is Coming Soon
We did hear a lot about the launch of the updated operating system of Windows recently. Yesterday, Microsoft finally confirmed the release of Windows Phone 7.8, but that confirmation was a date, not the actual OS.
Some rumors were targeted at an actual roll out, both from an incognito tip off and a previous report out of a Microsoft conference in the Far East. Looks like things are a bit confused.
Microsoft has stepped forward to confirm that the update to Windows Phone 7.5 will be here in early 2013. That is as definitive as it gets. Better than nothing, but not as good as a launch yesterday, no doubt.
When it comes, there will be updated features, creating a completely new smartphone, according to Microsoft on its official blog. It also declared some specifics, including re-sizable Live Tiles, double the number of theme and accent colors, the option to automatically display the Bing Picture of the Day plus the ‘A1B2C3’ PIN/password challenge to prevent accidental device wipes on phones connected to Exchange accounts.
New apps are also under way – Words with Friends and Draw Something are already available, while Angry Birds Space and Angry Birds Star Wars are just a few weeks away.
The new year 2013 is only a month away, so not long to go. When it does come, looks like it will be worth waiting.
